Google plan to acquire Motorola shows Google plan to protect its Andriod platform and to also be a competitor in the software/hardware field where only one competitor is more dominant, namely Apple. The announcement has huge implication for Google who not only would gain a hardware footing but would gain huge from the treasure chest of mobile/telecommunications patents that Motorola has in its arsenal. We will see how things play out after the transactions is approved by the relative agencies.

While the tech world still is buzzing with Google’s announcement to acquire Motorola Mobile, another major bombshell was announced today.  Hewlett Packard, HP as most people reference them by, shocked the tech world with two major announcements.  Six months after announcing the HP Touchpad tablet, at a media and press event and about one month after introducing it to consumers for purchase, HP today announced shutting down production of the Touchpad.  In addition shutting down production of the Touchpad, they also announced that they were exiting the Mobile Phone manufacturing market as well. While you digest that HP said they intent to possibly spin-out their PC business, which along with exiting the mobile market would climax with them getting out of the consumer market and basically giving up the fight with Apple in that space.
